‘Twas The Night Before Christmas — 2006 Candlelight Christmas Theme

You’re sure to encounter a visit from St. Nicholas while attending Historic Murfreesboro’s 21st annual Candlelight Christmas tour. The citizens of Historic Murfreesboro are adding all the trimmings to make this holiday event a life-long Christmas memory. In fact, every guest will receive a special Christmas gift from the jolly elf’s sack.   Clement Moore’s poem will come to life with visions of sugar plums, a miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer, stockings hung by the chimney, and, of course, the jolly old elf himself. Along the way, carolers will lift their voices in joyful song, and the sounds of clarinet, harmonica, dulcimer, and handbells will usher in the Christmas spirit.

This holiday event will include a delicious dinner of traditional foods and treats. A delicious bowl of Carolina seafood bisque is a must and a slice of savory, locally cured, country ham. A literal groaning board of cakes and sweetmeats of every description will assure an evening of dining fit for a king! Horse-drawn carriage and tram rides in the Historic District are also included in the bill of fare.

So, don’t delay, make plans now to experience “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Individuals, families, civic organizations, and church groups are afforded an opportunity to recapture the spirit of Christmas in an unique and satisfying way. And every year we welcome back more and more friends who have made Candlelight Christmas in Historic Murfreesboro a tradition.

But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
